The Village Life Experience (VLE) packages have been conceived by the Responsible Tourism (RT) Destination Cells at Kovalam, Kumarakom, Thekkady and Wayanad to offer it as a conducted tour option for tourists. The package is conceived under the broad objective as laid down in the social responsibility tasks of the responsible tourism practices in destinations. The focus of the VLE packages is to open up the immense resources of both natural as well as cultural heritage directly and indirectly associated with the livelihood activities, cultural activities, traditional art and crafts of the communities living at the destinations. The package aims at enabling local communities to introduce visitors/tourists to experience these diverse activities in an authentic manner in rural ambience. In order to promote and market the packages for the tourists and the tourism industry, innovative marketing strategies are most essential. These aspects also have been taken up in detail after detailed discussion with industry partners especially Tour Operators.
