CCIL earmarks Rs 250 cr for foray into wellness tourism biz

Country Club India has earmarked a Rs 250 crore investment in two years to fuel its foray into the wellness tourism segment, a top company official said.

The company recently marked its entry into this segment with the launch of a country spa at Kovalam in Kerala. "We plan to invest Rs 250 crore in our wellness tourism business over a period of two years. Our plan is to set up nine more such spas pan-India," CCIL's Chairman and Managing Director Y Rajeev Reddy said.

The company has zeroed in on Bangalore to set up a similar spa scheduled to be launched in October. "We plan to set up one more such spa in the garden city later," he added.

Apart from Bangalore, CCIL plans to set up spas in Ahmedabad, Surat, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai in India and Dubai in the Gulf. "These would be set up over the next three to four year period," Reddy said.

On its Dubai operations, Reddy said that the company has already invested around Rs 175 crore and proposes to pump in an additional Rs 25 crore soon.

The recently-launched spa in Kovalam which the company said is the country's first floating spa, offers hydro- therapies, ancient ayurvedic treatments and diet-plans that lead to a complete rejuvenation of the body and mind.
