The National Tourism Award 2008-09 ceremony held recently in New Delhi during which Kerala Tourism won the award for the best Responsible Tourism Initiative in India, offered a moment of pride for GITPAC International, the tourism planning and consultancy division of ATE Group of Companies. The prestigious award was won for the initiatives at  Kumarakom, one of the four pilot destinations in which Kerala tourism is implementing the first phase of RT initiatives, with GITPAC as the Technical Support Agency. Along with officials of Kerala Tourism and the President of Kumarakom Panchayat, the award was received by Mr. Rupesh Kumar, GITPAC’s Destination Coordinator for Kumarakom from honorable Vice President of India Shri. Hameed Ansari. Mr. U V Jose, Chief Operating Officer of GITPAC International said that this achievement has been made possible only with the active involvement of the Panchayat, Kudumbasree, local community and NGOs in field level interventions and the timely support and guidance from the Responsible Tourism Committee members at the state and destination levels. He added that this recognition would definitely help the GITPAC as the technical support agency to take RT Initiatives forward with enhanced commitment and to enable it to achieve greater heights in utilizing tourism for the benefit of local communities.
