 Responsible (Sustainable) Tourism

GITPAC is positioned as the Technical Support Unit for the implementation of Responsible Tourism Initiatives (RTI) for the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala. RTI is being implemented in four destinations of Kerala namely Kovalam, Kumarakom, Thekkady and Wayanad. The experiences and learning from this process has equipped GITPAC to assist interested state governments or agencies in implementing similar initiatives in other Indian states as well. GITPAC can offer technical advisory services to government agencies specifically in the areas of: • Developing Industry- Community Linkages in tourism to enhance direct economic benefits to local people • Establish Rural Economic & Socio Cultural Linkages and develop innovative tourism products and services • Knowledge sharing on the Environment Best practices in Responsible Tourism • Advisory service on partnership building between various departments, agencies, organizations, industry and community in successfully implementing Responsible Tourism Initiatives
